Geek It! Otaku Out and About: Maid Dreamin’ Cafe in Akihabara

If you’re wanting to live your otaku dreams to the fullest, you must visit a maid cafe in Akihabara. During this Japan trip, we went to the Maid Dreamin’ Heaven’s Gate store in Akihabara.

Maid Dreamin’ is the largest Maid Cafe company in Japan and it has about 7 stores in Akihabara alone.

Some Maid Dreamin’ cafes might be small and homely-decorated, others might be filled with karaoke and live dancing. At the end of the day, each maid cafe’s purpose is to bring spark into your lives, and make you feel happy and at home.

While you’re there, you will be served by cute maids. Every now and then, they will interact with you by playing games, take selfies, ask you to do cute ~moe moe movements, and make some kind of conversation with you even though you don’t really know Japanese. 

You will also get the chance to purchase food and drinks, and if you’re lucky enough, you might even see a live performance.

Whether it is your first Maid Cafe experience or tenth experience, we don’t think you can ever get used to the bizarre nature of such cafes.
