Geek It! Out and About: Chiikawa Park in Japan (2026)

For those who aren’t up to date with the latest craze in Japan, meet … Chiikawa.
Based on the 2020 Japanese web manga series by Nagano, the story follows the daily adventures of Chiikawa, along with other animal-inspired characters like Usagi and Hachiware.
What’s not to love about them? They’re small, cute, and unique in their own ways, and they have the magical ability to make you laugh; cry; and feel hopeful within a few seconds.
Although the animated series debuted in 2022, the Chiikawa franchise literally blew up over the past year or so. Since then, its merchandise line has spawned into plushies, stationery, goodies… and even its own CHIIKAWA PARK in the heart of Ikebukuro city. And that’s exactly where we went once we hit Tokyo.
Here is our review of Chiikawa Park:

Chiikawa Park is literally a paradise for fans of the Chiikawa characters. As you walk in, there are plenty of themed installations, props, and photo spots that you can interact and take photos with. There are also some exclusive animated video rooms, along with a gaming arcade that you can partake to win exclusive prizes.

Surprisingly, Chiikawa Park was very well-thought out, considering the condensed space it has. There could be more activities or games for kids but it was still an enjoyable experience, especially for the 2-3 hours that we spent there and the price we paid (approximately $30 AUD).

But what really shocked us, was the mass attendance of adults. We’re talking about people in their late 20s and also people in their 60s.
Were they are genuine fans of the franchise? Or is it mere curiosity? The theme park is so popular to the point where time slots are booked out in advance, and many attendees lined up to the tee in each interactive room.

The best part about Chiikawa Park was getting the opportunity to take photos with the Chiikawa characters. If you’re luckily enough, you’d be able to meet and interact with your favourite character — ours is Chiikawa and Hachiware 🙂
And of course, we can’t forget about the Merchandise Shop! If you’re planning to visit Chiikawa Park, we suggest you start saving already (and think about that extra suitcase)! So many cute plushies and items!
