When it comes to animation, we get excited about a lot of things but we’re super excited about the upcoming Disney XD’s animated series, BIG HERO 6.
Developed by Kim Possible creators Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, this animated series is based on Disney’s hit 2014 film Big Hero 6 — which was loosely based on the comic book series ‘Sunfire and Big Hero 6’ published by Marvel Comics.
Scheduled to premiere in Fall 2017, the series will feature our favourite duo: 14-year-old tech genius Hiro, and his inflatable healthcare companion Baymax.
Taking place after the events of the film, the series will utilise traditional 2D animation –unlike the movie which heavily relied on 3D CGI. This is an interesting approach, and we highly praise the creators for taking on the 2D animation approach. Not only will it stand out amongst other animated shows, but it will feel and look closer to its original material.
With plenty of action and characters to play with, this animated series is guaranteed to be a hit with young and adult fans. Some fans may want a film sequel but an animated series is probably a better option as it will cost less money, and there will be more time for the characters to shine.
And Disney already knows that Big Hero 6 will do well — the animated series haven’t even premiered and a second series has already been confirmed!
