While fans will need to wait for Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card arc anime to be released in Winter 2018, it has come to our attention that CLAMP and Madhouse Productions have been busy working on another project as part of the 20th Anniversary celebrations.
Screened at the Sakura Festival 2017 event, Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~, Sakura and the Two Teddy Bears is a new animated instalment which will be released before the new anime series.
Here is a preview trailer for the upcoming project:
Ah, the sight of the bridge and school tower accompanied by the classic dreamy music — we’re starting to get a little bit emotional! Personally, we’re not so sure about the visuals as they appear more glossy than usual for our liking. Other than that, the animation still looks on point, and the revamped character design is a lot closer to CLAMP’s original art.
For those who don’t know, the original Cardcaptor Sakura anime showed only one bear — the one that Syaoran made for Sakura. Creating a bridge between the old and new arcs, this OAD will most likely cover the missing piece of the story in which Sakura makes a bear for Syaoran.
While we do wonder about the length of this prologue, we honestly can’t wait to see our favourite characters again, including Mizuki, Tomoyo, Touya, Yukito, Eriol and Kero. And of course, Sakura and Syaoran!
