Geek It! Otaku Spotlight: Meet the official ambassadors for 2020 Tokyo Olympics
With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in three years, Japan is already going out with full force in creating hype for the prestigious games. Now we have yet to hear about Japan’s official mascots but Japan recently unveiled ‘ambassadors’ for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
If you check out the following video, they’re definitely not your everyday kind of celebrities.
And you can certainly see why! Featuring ambassadors such as Uzumaki Naruto, Sailor Moon’s Usagi, Dragonball’s Goku and Yokai Watch’s Jibanyan, this is without a doubt the ultimate team of ambassadors to represent Japan. Although we cannot help but notice the absence of certain cult characters such as Pokemon‘s Pikachu, we can only assume that this is simply just the first wave of ambassadors with more to be announced at a later time.
Not only does this promotional campaign target a variation of young and old fans, but it also affirms just how popular Japanese pop-culture is in today’s society. Besides, just imagine all the cool merchandise featuring our favourite characters!
