Geek It! Anime Newsbyte: Dragon Ball Super Teaser Trailer

First we had news of a new Digimon series, now it is DRAGON BALL! Does it get any better than that?!  

DRAGON BALL SUPER will be the first Dragon Ball TV series in 18 YEARS and it is coming very soon! Set to premiere on July 5, the team behind Dragon Ball Super is keeping everything under wraps as fans have only been teased with a super short teaser video (see above video!) plus the official poster and a few character designs. 

Unfortunately, the 15 seconds teaser and promotional poster aren’t giving anything away at all — simply fuelling fans’ curiosity for what the new series will entail. However, it can be confirmed that many characters will be returning such as Krillin, Piccolo, Majin Buu, young Trunks, Goten, Vegeta, and of course, the one and only Goku. Whis and Beerus from Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F is also part of the cast but if you look carefully, there are look-alikes as well. Who can they possibly be?

From what we can decipher, Dragon Ball Super is looking to be a sequel to Dragon Ball Z  right after the defeat of Majin Buu. Believe it or not, Toei Animation has already set aside over 100 episodes for Dragon Ball Super despite not having aired yet. While it seems to be a bold move, this is most probably because of the notable popularity of the original Dragon Ball series. We can’t help but wonder how many of these Dragon Ball Super episodes would involve death stares and intense yelling matches….
