Geek It! Anime NewsByte: Attack on Titan Live-Action Movie Trailer
ATTACK ON TITAN was one of 2014’s most successful anime series that created a major pop-culture cult amongst otakus and cosplayers. With the second season of Attack on Titan anime still out of reach, Japanese Hollywood has decided to shoot this live-action movie with Shinji Higuchi as director, and screenplay written by Yusuke Watanabe and Tomohiro Machiyama.
Featuring Haruma Miura as leading man Eren Yeager, Mizuhara Kiko as Mikasa Ackerman and Kanata Hongo as Armin Arlert, we are surprised to see a mature-looking cast playing our favourite characters.
Everything else, on the other hand, looks ~bloody fantastic. From the Colossal Titan to the destruction of Eren’s town, the film seems to have succeeded in capturing the intense, bleak setting of Eren’s world.
While there are some CGI and special effect shots that doesn’t look realistic in the trailer, we hope everything blends together in the film. With some major changes set to appear in the live-action film (spoiler alert: no Levi Ackerman), we hope the film does Hajime Isayama’s story justice.
Slated for Japan release on August 1st 2015, we absolutely cannot wait for this film. High box-office expectations are riding on this film as the sequel Attack on Titan: End of the World is set to be released on September 19th. Want more? Check out the character posters below!
