BACK TO RETRO: The Simpsons … Pixel-style!

A pixel art-inspired Simpsons couch gag recently went viral, much to the delight of fans around the world. Created by Australian animators Paul Robertson, Ivan Dixon and Jeremy Dower, these artists have produced an awesome 8-bit version of the iconic Simpsons intro…done entirely in pixel form. Complete with old-school sound and trippy awe-inspiring references to the show, the animation looks incredibly authentic and true to its style. Believe it or not, this animated couch gag is fanmade and not actually affiliated with the show.

IT’S TIME TO D-D-D-DUEL: Real-life Seto Kaiba vs real-life Joey Wheeler

Here at CtrlGeekGirl, we grew up with the English dub of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. Watching the show is one thing, but seeing the voice-actors voicing the characters in real life is another thing. For those interested, voice-actors Eric Stuart (Seto Kaiba) and Wayne Grayson (Joey Wheeler) made an appearance at the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Qualifier back in 2012 where they battled it out with their cards and voices. Check out the battle from 3:25!

ANIME COOKINGGotta eat catch ’em all!

FYI, we absolutely love pancakes. But when there is a bit of Pokemon touch to it, it just tastes a bit more delicious. In this montage video, Youtuber DrDanCake catches all 151 Pokemon in the form of yummy pancakes. Check out the video!

FANDOM WARS (LITERALLY): Harry Potter vs Star Wars … Who will win?

In true geeky spirit, this group reenacted of what appears to be the greatest battle of all time — Harry Potter vs Star Wars. Using infamous lines and jokes respective to the original content, we have never seen a battle like this before, especially one created by fans. As both protagonists from both series battle it out, we can only ask ourselves the big question …who will win? Watch to find out! Note: Harry Potter will always win.

The LEGO Movie may have been snubbed at this year’s Academy Awards but that certainly didn’t stop them from making a flashy appearance at the 2015 Oscars. Performed by Tegan and Sara, along with The Lonely Island guys, they sure stole the spotlight with their colourful spectacle featuring the film’s theme song ‘Everything is Awesome‘.

GEEKY FANTASY: When SMASH Bros meet Attack on Titan

So we’ve seen numerous Attack on Titan parodies including Bollywood dancing and space cats. But one parody that recently caught our eye is none other than this hand-drawn animation featuring our favourite characters from SMASH Bros. Accompanied by the second theme song of Attack on Titan, this fan-made project is highly creative and it would have taken the animator many months to complete this. If only there was an animated SMASH Bros film or series….!
