‘Never give up‘ is a motto that many of us use everyday. But when you keep falling and having to constantly pick yourself up in order to achieve something greater, this is a true testament to one’s character.

Meet Danny Choo. You may know him as the son of the infamous shoe designer Jimmy Choo. However, to millions of people out there, he is a real-life Shonen character who never ceases to amaze us with his passion for pop-culture and his ideas for the future.

DANNY CHOO is the biggest name in the Japanese pop-culture blogosphere. Since 2004, Choo has been blogging about life in Japan as a foreigner, and his unique experiences with Japanese culture.

Becoming an instant favourite bloggers amongst international manga and anime fans, this blogging success eventually led Choo to create his own brand called ‘Culture Japan‘ where he directs and presents his own television show with the same name.

In 2007, Choo created a mascot character called ‘Mirai Suenaga’ for Culture Japan. Collaborating with various anime and gaming companies such as Square Enix and Bandai Namco, Mirai then became an official mascot for Japan Tourism in 2013, and recently starred in her first live-action drama called ‘doS Deka’.

Choo went on to start up one of the biggest projects of his career — manufacturing his own brand of fashion dolls called ‘Smart Doll‘ using 3D printers. After two years of research and networking, this 6ocm scale doll (modelled after Mirai) now belongs in thousands of homes owned by fans who love to customise, and take photos of their dolls. In fact, Danny recently opened up the very first Mirai store in Tokyo.

With all of this international success under his belt, Choo has attended various conferences across the world to speak on the subject of Japanese pop-culture. This year, Choo will be making his debut appearance at SMASH! Sydney Manga and Anime Show on August 8th and 9th in Australia.
