For Australian otakus out there, here is the 2015 May edition of Madman Entertainment‘s anime releases!

As expected from Madman Entertainment, there is a mix of genres for everyone this month. If you’re in the mood for a bit of justice drama on a Friday night, tuck into the old-school 009 Re:Cyborg film and Patlabor: The Mobile Police OVA series.

If you prefer feminist kick-butting action, try Coppelion — a post-natural disaster series where a group of teen girls fight a rebellious organisation in the hopes of saving humanity. And to balance out the adrenaline, immerse yourself in the slice-of-life drama One Week Friends where it remind ourselves about the power of memories and friendships. 009 RE:CYBORG

Blu-Ray + DVD / 105 min

In 1964, nine regular humans from different parts of the world were abducted by an evil organization and transformed into cyborgs with astounding powers for the purpose of being used as weapons. However, the cyborgs turned against their creators and started a long fight in the name of justice. Once they had helped to finally restore peace, they eventually disappeared from the pages of history.

It is now 2013. Skyscrapers across the world are being hit by suicide bombers with no apparent connection. The nine heroes have gathered once again to fight against this faceless menace. They appear untouched by time, but society around them has changed dramatically, along with the very idea of the “justice” they used to believe in… What is their role in the world now? And what is lying behind the rash of skyscraper bombings that is terrorizing all nations across the Earth? The vital clue lies in the skeleton of a seemingly impossible creature. As cities are consumed by the apocalypse, could it really be an act of God?

In their bid to assume control of the Soul Society, Kageroza’s Reigai imposters turn out to be as powerful as their Soul Reaper originals. A weakening Ichigo and the others attempt to train Nozomi to reach Shikai, possibly their key chance to defeat Kageroza. But there is still more to the mod soul Nozomi than meets the eye… Head Captain Genryusai Yamamoto joins the battle, but when Nozomi is taken captive and Ichigo’s powers become increasingly unstable, the outcome is anybody’s guess!

You see, things aren’t so simple when your memory disappears. And that’s exactly what happens with Kaori – she’s always alone because she can’t commit anything to memory, even if that commitment is as special as a memory of one of her friends. No matter how cherished her memories are, they vanish by the time Monday rolls around. But Yuki won’t give up in the fight for friendship as he embarks on a new mission every week to befriend a person he already knows.
