She’s kawaii, eccentric, vibrant, and bubblegum pop — Yes, welcome to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s world!

Best known as the ‘Harajuku Pop Princess‘, Kyary (aka Kiriko Takemura) is a Japanese model, fashion blogger and recording artist whose public image is generally associated with Japan’s Harajuku culture of kawaisa and decoraculture.

Kyary’s first single, PonPonPon (2011), became her signature song, followed by hit singles such as Candy Candy and Fashion Monster. Most of her success has been in Asia, but she’s been gaining popularity in Western countries due to the fast-growing viral status of her music videos.

Since her debut, she has released two full-length albums, Pamyu Pamyu Revolution (2012) and Nanda Collection (2013), and has been touring around the world visiting fans in England, US, France and Singapore. Citing Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and Katy Perry as inspirations for her fashion and music, Kyary is the ambassador for Japan’s ‘kawaii’ culture and is often referred as Japan’s Lady Gaga.

Have you heard of the artist ‘Kyary Pamyu Pamyu? If not, you should really check her out! She’s so awesome and so is her music! Like it says in Ctrl+GeekGirl’s post on KPP, Japan thinks of the young artist as their Lady Gaga! The two artists definitely have something in common! You can really tell!
